Well, it happened. He turned one.

One year later... at his exact birth time.
Growing: Isaac is steadily growing - though he seems to have had a little growth spurt over the last three months. That may have to do with how much he loves to eat (see below). Here's a comparison of the three kiddos at one year.
Sleeping: We are back in a good rhythm of sleep... when we are home. On the perfect day he would wake up at 7 am, take his first nap from 9:30-12, his second nap from 2:30-4, and go to bed around 8 pm. Our schedule is a little more unpredictable, so on the days that we are out and about he just takes little cat naps when he can get them, and seems to do okay.
Teething: He has about 8 teeth... Well, 8 have popped through, but only 6 are really obvious. I'm sure the next four will come soon enough, and eventually we will be battling the dreaded one-year-molars. Fun!
Talking: Isaac babbles for much of his day. He says daddy, mama, and ball (da-DA!, ma-ma, ba). He signs "more" for everything and points to things he likes or wants. He sometimes sign "please," but has discovered that screaming gets him a more immediate response.
Moving: He's fast, though his preferred mode of transportation is still his belly. He will crawl on his hands and knees if he is on the wood floors, otherwise he slithers around G.I.Joe style. He will pull up and stand, but isn't one for cruising around (yet).
Personality: In general Isaac's personality is much the same as it has always been. He's our laid back little man. He is happy and content and easy going - unless he's not. The difficulty is that we don't always know what triggers his unhappiness. Lately I've been noticing grumpiness when he is tired or awake but not able to do whatever he wants (i.e. being pinned in his car seat when he is awake and would rather be playing at home). I would say though that he is happy most of the time. He loves people - any people. He loves his nursery at church and his class at BSF. (I was a volunteer for his first week at BSF and it was so fun to see him in a different environment just exploring and checking out all the new toys and new kids and new teachers.)
Nicknames: Tito, Roaster, I.Z.
Likes: Isaac's favorite thing in the whole world is home. He loves being home. He loves his people, his toys, his place. He especially loves his bed. Specifically right now he enjoys wooden puzzles (carrying around pieces, banging them into other hard surfaces). He loves musical instruments. He loves Legos, the little kitchen, balls (any shape and size), cars or anything he can make move along the floor. He really likes books, but mostly turning the pages. His favorite non-toy is the little broom we keep in our kitchen. He pulls that off the stand and carries it around the island swiping it on the floor as he goes. He also likes things he isn't supposed to have - remote controls, phones, scissors, etc. And yes, he still loves straws!
Dislikes: Being held by Claire. Being left alone. Having anything taken away from him. Being told "no."
